Adobe Flash Builder can now create apps for iOS, BlackBerry Tablet, and Android

Today Adobe announced updates for its Flash Builder 4.5 and Flex 4.5 application development tools that allow developers to build applications for Apple’s iOS platform as well as RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook. This builds upon the Android support that was added back in April, and means that developers can now develop one application that can be deployed to 3 distinct mobile platforms – with no extra work.

Last week I saw a demonstration of some applications that were built with the new system. Regardless of the platform used, the apps worked the same way and had the same basic appearance. They were also quick, from what I could tell in the demos.

Some of the cross-platform apps developed using Flash Builder 4.5 that are already on the market include Mr. Mixit and Pyramix by HD Interactive, MuniTracker, Netflix Queue Manager by UnitedMindset, and Conqu by AsFusion.

Flash Builder 4.5 is available in two editions, Standard and Premium, that sell for $249 and $699 respectively. It is also available as part of the Adobe Creative Suite Web Premium and Master Collection editions.
